Generate MoRTH BOQ from cross-sections.
Price it with live rate data.
Upload TCS cross-section drawings. CivilBolt reads the geometry and generates the chapter-wise BOQ: clearing, earthwork, pavement, drains, structures, road furniture, with MoRTH SDB rate templates and an 8-level NHAI cost cascade built in.
The current process
A 42km NHAI tender. Three weeks. One QS.
The BOQ lands. The QS opens the cross-section drawings: 60 sheets for a 42km stretch. Typical sections get measured with a scale rule. Unusual sections get triangulated by hand. The earthwork volumes go into an Excel sheet built three years ago.
Then the rates. MoRTH SDB 2019 is a PDF. The QS copies item by item into the BOQ workbook. OH and profit percentages come from the previous tender. Nobody has checked the state PWD SOR update from last quarter.
The estimate is done by day 15. Pre-bid queries, structural assumptions, and mass haul optimisation don't happen. There is no time left.
With Road Estimator
Upload the TCS drawings on day one. CivilBolt reads the geometry and builds the chapter-wise BOQ. Rate analysis runs against the built-in MoRTH SDB 2019 templates. The QS spends the remaining time on what a QS should actually do: structural assumptions, mass haul optimisation, scenario comparison.
- Chapter-wise BOQ quantities from TCS geometry, not from a scale rule
- 33 MoRTH SDB items with full labour + material + OH + profit build-up
- Interactive mass haul: drag balance points, see ₹ impact live
- NHAI 8-level cost cascade from civil total to Grand Total
- Pre-bid validation before export: missing rates, below-cost items
From cross-sections to bid submission in 8 steps
Each step feeds the next. TCS geometry drives BOQ quantities. BOQ quantities drive rate analysis. Rate analysis drives the NHAI cost cascade. The cascade drives the export.
TCS Templates
Upload PDF cross-section drawings. CivilBolt reads the geometry: carriageway width, pavement layers, cut/fill slopes, median, shoulders.
Chainage Plan
Map which TCS applies from chainage X to chainage Y. Multiple TCS types on the same stretch, each gets its own row.
L-Section
Import L-section data. CivilBolt computes cut and fill volumes at every station using the IRC prismoidal formula, not trapezoidal approximation.
Assumptions
Add drains, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, junctions, bus bays. Each with geometry inputs. CivilBolt computes quantities from dimensions, not from memory.
Analysis
Interactive mass haul diagram. Drag balance points, see the ₹ impact live. 3D corridor with pavement layer cake and cut/fill zones.
Estimation
Chapter-wise BOQ built automatically: clearing, earthwork, pavement, drains, structures, road furniture. Source-level breakdown per item.
Pricing
Rate analysis against MoRTH SDB 2019. Full build-up: labour + machinery + material + OH + profit. NHAI 8-level cost cascade to Grand Total.
Export
Chapter-wise BOQ to Excel. Cover abstract, DOQ, per-structure matrix. Pre-bid validation flags missing rates and below-cost items before you submit.
What the estimator can do
Built for NHAI, NHIDCL, MoRTH, and state PWD tenders. Every feature designed around the documents Indian road contractors actually use.
BOQ from geometry, not from memory
Upload TCS cross-section drawings. CivilBolt reads width, pavement depth, slope, shoulder, and median. Quantities for clearing, subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM, BC, drains, and structures compute from the geometry. Not from a number you type in.
MoRTH SDB 2019 rate templates built in
33 standard BoQ items with full labour + machinery + material + overhead + profit build-up. MoRTH clause and SDB chapter cited per item. State PWD SOR rates loaded separately. No rate book to maintain in Excel.
NHAI 8-level cost cascade
Terrain premium, contingencies, agency charges, price escalation, GST, and Labour Cess cascade from civil total to Grand Total following NHIDCL HAM DPR §8.3. Edit any centage and the cover abstract recalculates.
Interactive mass haul
Drop balance points on the mass haul diagram. Drag them to retune cut/fill economy. Each move shows the ₹ impact live: haul cost goes from ₹117 Cr to ₹52 Cr as you retune reach boundaries.
3D corridor and cross-section preview
See the road in 3D: pavement layer cake (BC/DBM/WMM/GSB/subgrade), bridge piers, cut/fill zones by chainage, median. Drive-through mode with IRC station, grade, and upcoming structure on the HUD.
Pre-bid validation before you submit
5-rule validation engine on the export screen: missing rates, below-cost rates, rate deviation vs MoRTH norms, L-section missing, resource master mismatch. Errors gate the export button. Warnings surface, don't block.
HAM and EPC cashflow
S-curve cashflow projection over an 18–30 month construction window. Switch to HAM mode: NHAI Schedule G terms, 5 construction milestones at 8% each, 30 biannual annuities over 15 years. SBI MCLR financier overlay shows peak debt and total interest.
Decision dashboard and scenario branches
Save the bid as a named scenario. Clone and adjust: materials +10%, equipment +5%. What-if sliders apply MoRTH SDB category shares (50/30/20) to the civil total. Alternatives table compares all scenarios side by side.
Four people use Road Estimator
Built around real roles on a bid team. The QS, the earthwork engineer, the BD lead, and the authority reviewer, each gets the view they need.
